About the Artist - Arch Avary Jr.Arch Avary hand crafts original sculpture pendants in fine lead free pewter.
Arch Avary, arrived at Emory, Georgia during the "Great Depression" -- economic, not emotional! His parents' efforts to have him achieve a formal education beyond "reading, writing and 'rithmetic" were mostly futile. Rather than follow a family tradition of studying medicine, he elected to follow a different path.
After several career attempts at aerospace art and medical art, he discovered a calling outside of the corporate world that fit perfectly . . . as a wildlife sculpture in miniature. His sculptures can be worn anywhere! (Of course, everyone but Arch insists on calling his work jewelry!)
Arch, along with his wonderful wife Sarah, has hidden from the outside world for the past fifteen years or so, on top of a mountain just outside of Hayesville, North Carolina. There, he has created over 100 original wildlife designs in various media. Survival instincts (that is, eating regularly) have led to branching out from wildlife and designing the unusual and delightful sporting treasures such as his River Sports collection.
Arch recently decided it was time to try to semi-retire. He's looking for more time to go camping, take photos, and do some of the other fun things. He doesn't want to completely quit making his miniature sculptures, but he won't be spending as much time marketing his business. This website, and others will be his main method of sales. If you see something on this site you'd like to buy, the time is now. He may really take to this semi-retired life and go full time.
